Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has pledged that Egypt is prepared to take all necessary measures to defend Saudi Arabia as Houthi attacks against the kingdom reportedly intensify.

Speaking at a military academy graduation ceremony in Cairo, Sisi said Egypt was ready to take action to protect the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in accordance with directives from the Saudi king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Sisi emphasized that any such military action would require approval from Egypt’s parliament.

He called for an urgent parliamentary session to seek the necessary authorization, potentially paving the way for Egyptian military involvement in defending Saudi Arabia if the situation demands it.

The statement signals a possible escalation in regional security cooperation between Cairo and Riyadh as tensions involving the Houthis and Saudi Arabia continue to rise.

However, the remarks do not necessarily mean that Egypt has decided to deploy troops or launch military operations. Any intervention would depend on the circumstances and the required legal and political approvals.
