GFA Set to Pay Compensation After Otto Addo’s Dismissal

The Otto Addo era with the Black Stars has come to an unexpected financial conclusion after the Ghana Football Association decided to part ways with the head coach before the end of his contract.

Addo had signed a three-year deal with the Ghana Football Association, with an option to extend the agreement by an additional 24 months. Reports indicated that the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach was earning a monthly salary of around $50,000 during his tenure.

However, after spending two years in charge of Ghana national football team, the GFA decided to dismiss him from his role. With one year still remaining on his contract, the federation is now obligated to compensate him for the outstanding period of the agreement.

This means the GFA will have to pay the remaining 12 months of his salary as part of the contractual settlement, a move that could cost the federation approximately $600,000.

Addo’s departure marks another managerial change for the Black Stars as the federation looks to move in a different direction in its quest to rebuild and strengthen the national team for upcoming competitions.
