Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale explained that a multi-agency team was swiftly assembled in response to this intelligence. The team included members from the Hawks’ Tactical Operation Management Section, Badboyz Security, and the Gauteng Highway Patrol. Their objective was to intercept the suspects before the robbery was executed.

The Chase and Shootout.

The operation commenced with law enforcement locating vehicles that matched the suspects' descriptions near the potential robbery site. According to Mogale, as soon as the suspects realized they were under police surveillance, they attempted to flee in two separate vehicles, prompting a high-speed chase. The pursuit escalated into a shootout, resulting in the death of four suspects.
