A 66-year-old woman has been remanded over the death of a toddler left in her care.

Madam Josephine Avlekpor has been charged with manslaughter by the Circuit Court in Ashaiman after a child in her care died from burns sustained while she was bathing her with hot water.

Narrating the incident to Crime Check, Thomas Avugblah, son of the accused, said his mother had taken in the child and her mother to help care for them.

According to Thomas, the accused has been on remand for four months without a full hearing, as the court has adjourned her case each time she appears.

The child’s mother is said to have reported the accused after the child died.
