Ada youth to demonstrate for development Saturday

The youth and residents of Ada in the Greater Accra region are set to hit the streets on Saturday, May 23, 2026, for a massive, peaceful demonstration demanding urgent developmental reforms and government attention to long-standing community grievances.

Operating under the theme "Ada Demonstrates for Change," the protest seeks to draw national attention to the critical deficit in basic infrastructure, utility services, and employment opportunities within the Ada district and surrounding communities.

The leadership of the youth movement has outlined three core pillars for the demonstration:

Fix Our Roads: Protesters are calling on the Ministry of Roads and Highways to immediately address the deteriorating network of roads that hinders economic activity and compromises safety in the region.

Water is a Right: The community is demanding a sustainable and immediate solution to the persistent water crises plaguing Ada, asserting that access to clean, potable water is a fundamental human right.

Jobs for the Youth: With a rising rate of unemployment, the "Youth for Progress" faction of the movement is demanding targeted economic policies and investments to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local youth.

Sea defence: The coastal areas of Ada are on the verge of being swallowed by the sea and need urgent attention.

Street light: Communities lack streetlights, which needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
