The Ghana Police Service has apprehended six private security guards following a shooting incident involving Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, which took place in Kwabenya on June 21, 2026. The incident has sparked a thorough investigation by the authorities to uncover the details surrounding the event.


Discovery of Weapons

During a search operation, law enforcement officials recovered a significant cache of weapons and equipment.


The items seized include:


  1. Five pump-action guns
  2. One Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition
  3. An additional magazine containing five rounds of 9mm ammunition
  4. Various pieces of communication equipment

These findings have been crucial in piecing together the events leading up to the shooting.


Incident Overview.


Preliminary investigations revealed that police personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate, who were on special duty, responded to a distress call from a residence in Kwabenya. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a ceremony was underway at the home of Mr. Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, also known as Akofena.

Hon. Adwoa Safo reportedly arrived at the scene and requested entry to the premises but was denied access. This denial of entry appears to have been the catalyst for the subsequent events.


Details of the Shooting.


Police investigations have further uncovered that armed security personnel at the residence allegedly discharged firearms during the incident. This action resulted in injuries to Hon. Adwoa Safo, and her vehicle was found to have multiple bullet marks, indicating the severity of the confrontation.
