Burkina Faso has officially refined and stamped its first gold bar bearing the national mark RBF (République du Burkina Faso/Raffinor-BF).
The 1,000-gram gold bar, marked Au 999.9 (99.99% pure) and carrying the Raffinor-BF seal, was produced entirely within the country.
Images released show the gleaming bar being held by military personnel, the industrial refining process in action, and Captain Ibrahim Traoré proudly displaying one of the bars.
This marks a major step in Burkina Faso’s drive to process its own mineral resources instead of exporting raw gold. Officials and supporters are calling it a concrete symbol of economic sovereignty.
Nathalie Yamb posted the announcement earlier today with the message:
“Le premier lingot d’or frappé du sigle RBF, raffiné au Burkina Faso. Les temps anciens ne reviendront plus jamais. La puissance va irrémédiablement changer de camp. What a time to be alive!”
The development is being widely celebrated across social media as a historic milestone for the country.
