Former German international Michael Ballack had paid glueing tribute to the Manchester United team that beat Chelsea to win the European Champions League in 2008.
Ballack, was part of the Chelsea side in that grand finale played at the Luzinski Stadium in Moscow.
On Manchester United in the 2008 Champions League final he said: “That Manchester United team was honestly the toughest side I ever faced in my career.
They were unstoppable. Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Tévez… they attacked you from everywhere and scored goals for fun.
Even today, I’m still surprised we managed to take that game to penalties because over 90 minutes they could destroy any team in the world.
Sir Alex Ferguson was different. For me, he’s the greatest manager of all time because of how he sustained that level year after year.
Competing against his United side was mentally exhausting.
Sometimes I see fans mocking Manchester United because they haven’t won the league since 2013, but people forget what that club represents.
When Manchester United finally get everything right and return to their prime, every other team in the Premier League will be in serious trouble,” Ballack ended.
