Ghanaian dancehall star Kaakie, born Grace Kaki Awo Ocansey, has made a major career transformation — moving from the music stage to advanced mental-health care.

The former “Too Much” hitmaker is now professionally known as Dr. Grace Aidoo, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, after earning a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in the United States.

She has also launched her own mental-health practice, Kaylora Holistic Wellness & Recovery LLC, in Ohio.

The practice provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management and therapy for conditions including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, as well as couples therapy, child and adolescent care and court-ordered evaluations.

Kaakie has a strong healthcare background, having trained as a nurse and midwife at the University of Ghana, before earning a master’s degree in advanced midwifery in the UK and later a Master of Science in Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health.

Her latest doctorate now places her at the highest level of clinical nursing practice.

From performing on Ghanaian stages to becoming Dr. Grace Aidoo and running a mental-health practice in America, Kaakie’s journey has taken a remarkable turn.
