Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture John Dumelo has announced that a tomato processing factory is currently under construction at Anloga in the Volta Region to deal with the recurring problem of tomato glut.
According to him, the factory is a government-led initiative aimed at ending post-harvest losses and creating value for tomato farmers.
"Moving forward, a factory is being put up in Anloga to process the excesses.
It should be ready by next year," he disclosed.
The Anloga District is a major production hub, yielding over 240,000 tons annually during strong seasons, making the upcoming facility a critical addition to the domestic agricultural value chain.
