Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Updates Asantehene on Boankra Inland Port Project

The Board of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) has paid a courtesy call on Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to brief him on the progress of the Boankra Inland Port project.

The visit, which took place on April 24, 2026, was led by Board Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as GAPOHA. The delegation included the Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ransford Edward Gyampo, as well as Dan Abdul Latif, Board Secretary Eric Owusu Damptey, Workers’ Representative Perry Ellis, Akwasi Tin, and Director of Takoradi Port, Capt. James Richmond Quayson.

During the meeting, the Board updated the Asantehene on the current state of the Boankra Inland Port, highlighting key milestones achieved and ongoing efforts to ensure its timely completion. The project, located in the Ashanti Region, is expected to serve as a major logistics hub, easing congestion at the country’s seaports and facilitating trade within the northern sector and landlocked neighbouring countries.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed his longstanding interest in the project, stressing its importance to the economic development of the Ashanti Region and Ghana as a whole. He encouraged the Authority to remain committed to delivering the project efficiently to unlock its full potential.

The Boankra Inland Port is widely regarded as a transformative initiative aimed at improving Ghana’s transportation and supply chain systems, while boosting regional trade and industrial growth.
