Ghana will host the 24th African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra in May.

The event will come off May 12 to 17, 2026, at the University of Ghana Stadium.

A total of 54 African countries are expected to participate in this competition which will bring together some of the continent’s finest athletes.

Top athletes expected to compete include Faith Chepkoech and Beatrice Chebet of Kenya among others.

It is also expected that strong relay teams such as the South African 4x100m squad and the Botswana 4x400m team are also expected to feature prominently.

As Ghana prepares for the hosting of this event, about 120 technical officials have been trained, with approximately 100 set to officiate during the championships.
