Russian President Vladimir Putin Reaffirms Russia’s Commitment to Africa on Africa Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to strengthening relations with African countries, describing the continent as an increasingly important force in global affairs. In a message delivered to African diplomats in Moscow to mark Africa Day, Putin praised African nations for the economic and social progress they have made in recent years.

According to the Russian leader, African states are becoming more influential on the international stage and are playing a bigger role in shaping global politics and development. He stressed that Russia highly values its traditionally friendly ties with African countries and is determined to deepen cooperation across several sectors.

Putin also highlighted the growing partnership between Russia and African institutions, including the African Union and regional organizations. He said both sides share a common vision of building a “just multipolar world” based on equality, respect for international law, and freedom from discrimination or external pressure.

The Russian president noted that Moscow hopes to expand trade, political engagement, and security cooperation with African partners through future Russia-Africa forums and bilateral agreements. He added that Russia remains interested in supporting African development while strengthening economic and diplomatic ties across the continent.

Russia has increased its engagement with Africa in recent years through military partnerships, energy projects, grain exports, and political cooperation. The outreach has intensified especially after Moscow faced growing isolation from Western countries following the war in Ukraine, with the Kremlin seeking stronger alliances in Africa, Asia, and other regions.
