A travel and tour agent, Clement Osei-Wusu has been remanded into lawful custody after allegedly collecting GH¢107,000 from a civil servant and his relatives under the pretext of securing their recruitment into Ghana’s security services.
He has been charged with defrauding by false pretences and pleaded not guilty before an Accra Circuit Court. He is to reappear before the court on September 22, 2026.
It is reported that in October 2025, the complainant, a civil servant in the Bono Region, joined a WhatsApp group, “Limited Job Opportunities”, administered by the accused, where advertisements for recruitment into the security services were posted.
His cousin, Gbenyare Yahaya, allegedly contacted the accused for further information about the recruitment opportunities and subsequently informed the complainant.
Osei-Wusu allegedly charged GH¢15,000 for GRA slots and GH¢19,000 for GAF and other security services. On October 17, 2025, the complainant and his cousin visited his office and paid for two GAF slots.
He later claimed to have slots in GIS and GPS as well. The complainant transferred GH¢35,000 to his Fidelity Bank account on December 24, 2025, and in 2026 paid another GH¢20,000 via MoMo and two rural bank accounts for two GPS slots.
He also allegedly demanded GH¢5,000 to move the complainant’s son from the second to the first batch of GAF recruits.
After collecting the money, Osei-Wusu allegedly failed to deliver on the recruitment promises and blocked the complainant.
The complainant reported to the police on August 8, 2026, leading to his arrest.
